Tarquini on top in first free practice at Marrakech
Gabriele Tarquini headed the FIA World Touring Car Championship field in the first free practice session at Marrakech. The SEAT driver lapped the track in 1:45.165, a time that was just 0.041 seconds faster than Chevrolet man Yvan Muller in second.
Rob Huff made it two Chevrolets in the top three ahead of Tom Chilton in the Ford Focus. Huff was 0.331 seconds from the fastest time of the session while Chilton was 0.553 seconds behind.
Franz Engstler was the best BMW driver ahead of manufacturer colleague Stefano D’Aste and Tom Coronel.
Pepe Oriola claimed eighth fastest time, with local driver Mehdi Bennani and Tiago Monteiro rounding out the top ten. Next up is free practice two which starts at 15.15 CET.
