Arena pleased with first ever WTCC points

Arena Motorsport scored their first ever WTCC points in the past weekend’s races at Marrakech. Tom Chilton was first of the two drivers to score points with seventh in the first race.
“The team have done a great job all weekend and it feels absolutely amazing to get the first points for them. Obviously I would have liked to have held on to fifth but we can definitely be pleased with our result,” said Chilton.

Team mate James Nash improved the points haul in race two with sixth position, after starting from pole thanks to the reversed grid.
“It was a great feeling to have led the race for the amount of time that I did and come home with points for me and the team. Obviously I would have liked to have held on to the lead for longer but I’ve never driven around here before and it seems like a track where experience really pays off,” said Nash.

But it nearly ended in tears for Nash who involved in a clash with Franz Engstler, retiring his Ford Focus on the first lap of race one, leaving the team with a tough job to fix the car in time for race two.
“The Team Aon boys did an absolutely stunning job to fix my car up for the race; they really did everything they could in such a limited time,” said Nash.

Nash and Chilton scored a total of 14 points from the weekend at Marrakech, a track the team never before had seen ahead of the first practice session, pleasing Team Principal Mike Earle.
“The whole team have worked very hard for this result, not just this weekend but also over the winter in the lead up to our first season in the WTCC. They really deserved the points we’ve picked up today and hopefully they will be the first of many,” said Earle.
