Stefano D’Aste confirmed on race two pole

Stefano D’Aste will start from pole position for the second time this season in the reversed grid race two. There was confusion yesterday evening over whether Tom Chilton was to inherit the pole after Nash’s penalty.

As Nash’s penalty was not an exclusion, the top ten isn’t redrawn for the reversed grid. In effect the top ten are reversed with Nash still counted in his original grid position, and then the penalty is applied afterwards with the gaps closed.

This sees Wiechers-Sport driver D’Aste maintain his pole position, his second this year as with Alain Menu starting alongside in the Chevrolet Cruze, just as before at Valencia.

It’s a double blow for Nash as instead of 14th for race two, the Arena Ford driver will start 17th for the race with the reverse grid being used to set his race two position before the 10 place penalty is applied.
