Gabriele Tarquini leads morning warm-up

Lukoil Racing Team driver Gabriele Tarquini was faster than the three works Chevrolets in the morning warm-up at the Hungaroring in the SEAT León WTCC.

Yvan Muller was the first to set the benchmark and continued to improve lap by lap before team-mate Rob Huff jumped into first before Tarquini went faster still on his first flying run almost ten minutes into the session.

Alain Menu also left it to later in the session to set a time and went third fastest, dropping pole sitter Yvan Muller to fourth in the times.

The top independent driver was Hungarian Norbert Michelisz in fifth, with James Nash sixth fastest in the Ford Focus S2000 TC of Arena Motorsport, the first time the Ford’s been in the top ten this weekend.

James Thompson ended up 20th in the Lada Granta Sport.

Unlike yesterday there were few warnings for cutting the track, though Special Tuning Racing driver Tom Boardman did have one of his lap times deleted for short-cutting Turns 6 & 7.

The first race takes place at 11:20 CET.
