Yvan Muller fastest in Portugal warm up
Championship leader Yvan Muller was fastest of all in the warm up ahead of today’s two races at Portimão. Muller led his two team-mates whilst race one pole sitter Gabriele Tarquini was fourth fastest.
In the cooler conditions at 9am on Sunday morning, Muller improved on his qualifying lap time to set a lap of 1:54.095.
Rob Huff was second fastest in the No.2 Chevrolet Cruze, 0.250 seconds down on Muller with Menu third just over half a second back.
Rob Huff was warned for exceeding the track limits at Turn 1, whilst Liqui Moly Team Engstler driver Charles Kaki Ng briefly left the track at Turn 6, but otherwise the 15 minute session was uneventful.
Alex MacDowall was the fastest of the independents’ trophy drivers in fifth in his Bamboo Engineering Chevrolet Cruze, whilst the two Fords showed improved pace from yesterday with Tom Chilton seventh and James Nash tenth fastest.
James Thompson’s Lada Granta was 17th fastest, as he was in qualifying.
The first race of the day starts at 13:05 WEST/BST.
