World and British Touring Car Ford Focuses test at Brands
Two different specifications of Ford Focus were in action today at Brands Hatch in the UK, with Arena Motorsport’s 2012 FIA S2000-spec Ford Focus WTCC test car and Motorbase Performance’s new NGTC-spec Ford Focus ST BTCC racer both on track.
Arena were taking part in a mid-season test with their race drivers James Nash and Tom Chilton at the circuit, using the team’s third car whilst the other two chassis are over in America, currently en route to California for the next round of the WTCC at Sonoma Raceway next month.
Motorbase Performance meanwhile were out testing their all new Ford Focus ST effectively for the first time, time (if you don’t count the race weekend at Snetterton), which allows for a very rare visual comparison of both cars, one built to the FIA’s Super 2000 regulations and the other to the BTCC’s Next Generation Touring Car rules.
Mat Jackson was on driving duty in the Motorbase Ford, with James Nash doing the majority of running in Arena’s Ford Focus.
