WTCC to use full course at Sonoma Raceway
The World Touring Car Championship will use the full 4.025km layout of Sonoma Raceway, California, when it visits the United States for the first time next month.
The circuit will be the fourth smallest on the calendar, with only Valencia (4.0km), Curitiba (3.7km) and Suzuka (2.2km) being shorter.
The circuit has received FIA homologation after an inspection by Formula One Race Director Charlie Whiting. The circuit will therefore differ from the short 3.2km layout used by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the 3.7km layout which is being used by the IndyCar Series this weekend.
The WTCC’s first visit to Sonoma takes place on September 23rd.
