Alex MacDowall fastest in Sonoma test session

Bamboo Engineering’s Alex MacDowall was fastest in the Friday test session at Sonoma Raceway in his Chevrolet Cruze, which was ended early due to a crash for WTCC newcomer Felice Tedeschi.

Yvan Muller was the early pace setter in the works Chevrolet Cruze, but then Pepe Oriola moved to the top of the time sheets for the majority of the session before a quick lap from MacDowall put him on top shortly before the red flag six minutes from the end.

The two Spanish SUNRED drivers Pepe Oriola and Fernando Monje ended up second and third quickest, with Yvan Muller the fastest works Chevrolet in fourth and Lukoil Racing’s Gabriele Tarquini fifth.

Robb Holland was 21st in his first outing in the Chevrolet Cruze, with Proteam’s Felice Tedeschi 7.5 seconds off the pace in 22nd before he crashed out in the BMW 320 TC.
