First win for Ricardo Risatti with Honda in STC 2000
Ricardo Risatti won his first race with Honda at Río Cuarto, ending an eight-race winning streak for Toyota Team Argentina and the PSG16 Ford team, finishing ahead of the three Renaults of Emiliano Spataro, Leonel Pernía and Guillermo Ortelli.
Mariano Werner was fastest in qualifying for Toyota Team Argentina, but after the championship position based grid penalties, that gave 25-year-old Risatti pole position in the Honda Civic, with Leonel Pernía starting alongside in the Renault Lo Jack Fluence.
Risatti turned pole into a comfortable victory, reaching the chequered flag almost ten seconds clear of Emiliano Spataro’s Renault Fluence.
Toyota Team Argenina’s Matías Rossi was the top placed of the championship front runners in fifth, but only picks up one more point than championship leader José María López who finished in sixth place in the PSG16 Ford Focus.
Néstor Girolami finished in seventh place in the Peugeot Cobra Team 408, with Christian Ledesma the top finishing Chevrolet driver in eighth having started down in 13th on the grid in the Cruze.
José María López still leads the championship on 154 points, 29 points clear of Matías Rossi and Néstor Girolami, who are now both tied in second place, with Mariano Werner five points behind them.
The next round of the championship is at Santa Fe on October 14th.
