Alain Menu remains on top in free practice two
Alain Menu stayed on top as the second free practice session was held at Suzuka. The Chevrolet driver set his fastest time with ten minutes left but was on top for the majority on the session.
Chevrolet claimed positions one, two and four with Rob Huff just 58 thousands of a second behind in second and Yvan Muller in fourth, 0.308 seconds behind.
Fernando Monje pulled off a surprise in third with his SEAT León, just 0.291 seconds from Menu’s top time of the session.
Gabriele Tarquini claimed fifth as second best SEAT driver ahead of former SEAT driver in the form of Tiago Monteiro in the all-new Honda Civic.
Local driver Hiroki Yoshimoto was second best independent driver in seventh ahead of Pepe Oriola and Norbert Michelisz. James Nash was final driver in to the top ten, 0.708 seconds from the top.
BMW drivers Tom Coronel and Franz Engstler was out for the majority of the session as the team had to change the exhaust after sustaining damage in the first free practice session.
