Brazil back on the WTCC calendar for 2013

With yesterday’s confirmation of the 2013 FIA World Touring Car Championship calendar came the confirmation that Curitiba in Brazil will be on the calendar after all, holding a race on 28th July.

In early December, at the meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Istanbul, the Brazil round was announced as ‘removed’ from the calendar, but subsequently it has been reinstated after further negotiations between the WTCC promoter, Eurosport Events, and Brazil’s National Sporting Authority (ASN), CBA.

Curitiba will therefore host a round of the WTCC for the eighth consecutive season, and will be the first of the ‘flyaway’ rounds after the teams’ cars and equipment are shipped from Porto in Portugal following the race meeting at the Circuito da Boavista on June 30th.
