Robb Holland targeting dual WTCC & BTCC campaign

US driver Robb Holland plans to return to the FIA World Touring Car Championship for 2013, as well as drive a limited campaign in the 2013 British Touring Car Championship season.

The 45-year-old has primarily driven in the touring car class in the US in recent years in the Pirelli World Challenge series. Last year Holland made his BTCC debut, driving in two rounds of the BTCC at Snetterton and Knockhill in Tony Gilham Racing’s S2000-spec Honda Civic last season.

Holland followed this up with a one-off drive on the WTCC’s first trip to US soil at Sonoma Raceway, taking over the vacant spot at bamboo-engineering in their Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T.

Holland confirmed to TouringCarTimes that he plans to be on the grid this year for a full season campaign, with the final details of the programme still to be finalised. Holland will also take part in selected non-clashing rounds of the BTCC with Tony Gilham Racing, most likely Knockhill and Snetterton again, with the team’s second NGTC-specification Volkswagen CC, which is currently in development.

BTCC Team Principal Tony Gilham said: “Last year Robb and I shook on a deal and it worked well for both of us, I think this deal will be no different.”

“Robb has unfinished business with the BTCC and I know what they feels like so I will help him in every way possible.”
