The brother of 2008 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, Nicolas, it set to evaluate competing in the top flight of touring cars after two seasons in the Renault Clio Cup UK, according to a tweet from Lewis.
Late on Wednesday night, Lewis Hamilton posted the following image on social networking site Twitter, with the message “This is my brother @nicolashamilton getting ready for his season, be sure to follow him.”
The photo shows Lewis’s 20-year-old brother Nicolas at the wheel of Special Tuning Racing’s SEAT León WTCC during a seat fitting, with the team’s regular driver Tom Boardman also in the shot. Hamilton is understood to be testing with the team next week.
Nicolas Hamilton, who suffers from cerebral palsy, has raced in the Renault Clio Cup UK for the past two years, with a best result of tenth, achieved twice in 2011.
The team are not able to confirm any more about the programme. They have previously announced their intentions to return to the WTCC with two cars for the 2013 season, and are yet to confirm either of their two drivers in their two SEAT León WTCCs.
The team’s cars are also eligible for a number of other championships, including the FIA European Touring Car Cup and the British Touring Car Championship’s Jack Sears Trophy for S2000 cars.
