Rob Huff hopeful of a strong showing in Slovakia
Reigning World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff is hopeful of a strong weekend at the Slovakiaring this weekend, a circuit which certainly favoured SEAT last season with the Spanish marque taking a 1-2 in race one. Those two cars are the exact same ones now being used by Huff’s team Münnich Motosport this year.
After a tough first weekend in Monza with a crash in qualifying and handling problems during the race, a better weekend at Marrakech three weeks’ ago saw Huff move up to ninth in the overall drivers’ standings. Huff’s target this weekend will be to replicate that which SEAT rival Pepe Oriola achieved in Morocco, a race victory with the León WTCC.
“I’m relishing the opportunity of returning to the Slovakiaring because I think it could be very good for my ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport team and I,” said Huff.
“We’ve learnt a lot as a team during the first two rounds of the 2013 WTCC season. We feel we’re more focussed with the car and have a much better understanding of it, so I’m confident we’re in a strong position to challenge at the sharp end.
“Not only did SEAT cars take a one-two away from last year’s opening race in Slovakia, but I also took the win in the second, so based on last year’s form, you have to say a Rene Münnich-prepared SEAT León with me at the wheel should be a potent combination.”
