No penalty for Muller or O’Young for incidents in Slovakia
The stewards have ruled that no penalty will be necessary for either Yvan Muller or Darryl O’Young for separate incidents in today’s races at the Slovakiaring.
ROAL Motorsport driver Darryl O’Young was investigated for an incident with the rival BMW of Liqui Moly Team Engstler driver Franz Engstler, but after reviewing the video evidence the stewards deemed that no further action was necessary.
In race two, Honda’s Tiago Monteiro was in fourth place at the start of lap two, but had a coming together with RML’s Yvan Muller which saw Monteiro knocked off-line and dropped three positions, whilst Muller gained the position and went on to finish in second place. The stewards also deemed that no penalty was warranted and that it was a racing incident.
“Yvan tried to overtake me on the inside and I left him some room but he hit me big time,” said Monteiro to TouringCarTimes.
“We went to the stewards, he thinks I didn’t leave him enough space, I think I did, but obviously we clashed. He thinks I’m wrong, I think he’s wrong, that’s one of those typical things, but we’re good friends and we’ll sort it out.”
