Tom Boardman fails ride height and sent to the back

Special Tuning Racing’s Tom Boardman has had all his qualifying times deleted after his car was found to be running below the mininum ride height in scrutineering in Hungary. The luckless Brit will therefore start his third consecutive race from the final position on the grid.

Officially sent to the back of the grid for an engine change in the warm up at Marrakech last month, though the car was in no condition to enter the race after a 130 kmh crash, STR struggled last weekend at Slovakia with two consecutive engine failures. With one of the engines failing in qualifying, combined with the grid penalties for three engine changes over two weekends, Boardman was forced to start 23rd for the two races at the Slovakiaring.

This weekend with no issues with the new engine so far, Boardman had qualified in 20th on the grid, after running a strong 12th in the second free practice session. After losing all his times after failing the ride height test, the 29-year-old will now start from last place for both of tomorrow’s races.
