SEAT get weight break for Moscow Raceway

The SEAT León WTCC will be the only car that gets a weight adjustment for the forthcoming round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Moscow, with Lada, BMW, Chevrolet and Honda remaining on the same ballast levels as Salzburg.

The SEAT León was carrying 20kg of compensation weight at Salzburg, which put the car’s total weight at 1,170kg, but after evaluation of the lap times of the two fastest drivers throughout qualifying and the races over the last three events in Slovakia, Hungary and Austria, they will be able to reduce that by 10kg to 1,160kg in Russia.

The Chevrolet Cruze is still the reference car and will carry the maximum ballast of 40kg, whilst Honda, only 0.3 seconds behind on average per lap will also carry the same ballast.

The BMW 320 TC has been evaluated as 0.7 seconds a lap slower than the Cruze and so will be allowed to continue at its base weight of 1,150kg.

For their home race, the Lada Granta WTCC will continue to be the lightest car as it has been since Slovakia. The car will be running at -20kg of ballast so will be as light as possible at 1,130kg.
