Monje and Monteiro also drop to the back in Russia

Campos Racing’s Fernando Monje has lost all of his qualifying times after his SEAT León failed its scrutineering check, whilst Castrol Honda driver Tiago Monteiro will also lose his qualifying position as Honda have opted to change the Portuguese driver’s engine after problems throughout the day.

Monje’s fate is identical to that of his new team-mate Nikolay Karamyshev, who lost his times when he failed to stop for the scrutineering check at the end of the session. Both drivers have been given permission to start the race by the stewards despite not having set times within 107% after they were deleted. Monje had originally qualified in 14th position and Karamyshev 16th.

Honda’s Tiago Monteiro had qualified in 22nd after setting just one lap on used tyres before the water pump issue that plagued him in FP2 returned. The team have decided to change the engine in his Honda Civic, and with an engine required to last a full season in 2013, Monteiro automatically receives a grid penalty, though it makes little difference to his starting position.
