Second pole of the year for Agustín Canapino at Río Hondo

Equipo YPF Chevrolet’s Agustín Canapino has taken pole position for the second consecutive race weekend in his Chevrolet Cruze at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit, where the sixth round of the 2013 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship is taking place.

The 23-year-old lapped the circuit with a time of 1:45.336, almost a quarter of a second faster than the Renault Fluence of Leonel Pernía, with the Toyota Corolla of championship leader Matías Rossi setting the third fastest time in the session, just under four-tenths of a second down.

Emiliano Spataro made it two Renaults in the top four, setting a time just six-tenths behind Canapino’s in his Renault Lo Jack Team run Fluence.

Néstor Girolami was the fastest of the Peugeot drivers in fifth, whilst José María López was the top placed Equipo Petronas Fiat driver, qualifying in sixth position just ahead of his Fiat team-mate Facundo Ardusso.

The Toyota of Mariano Werner was eighth fastest and just over a second off the pace, with the second highest placed Chevrolet Cruze of Franco Girolami ninth and the Renault of Fabian Yannantuoni completing the top ten.

It was another bad session for the Equipo Petrobras Honda team, with none of the team’s three drivers making the top ten for the third consecutive race meeting.

The Super 8 heat-based format takes place on Sunday morning at 9:50 local time which sets the final grid for the race, with the top eight drivers battling for pole position, with the 21 lap race starting at 13:00 local time.
