Marc Basseng hit with time penalty

Münnich Motorsport’s Marc Basseng has been hit with a 30-second time penalty in the second race of the FIA World Touring Car Championship weekend at Suzuka, following a stewards investigation.

The stewards found Basseng to have hit James Thompson’s Lada Granta, which enabled the SEAT driver to take ninth place as a result of the contact.

The decision moves Stefano D’Aste and Darryl O’Young into the final two points paying positions while Basseng drops to 17th position.
