Fernando Monje to miss Macau finale

Campos Racing driver Fernando Monje will not take part in the Macau season finale of the 2013 FIA World Touring Car Championship, reducing the Spanish team’s entry to just one car at present for Frenchman Hugo Valente.

The 20-year-old has cited family reasons for his absence from the season finale. The 2012 FIA European Touring Car Cup S2000 champion has had a difficult first full season in the WTCC, scoring his first and only championship point at Suzuka in September, and is in eighth position in the Yokohama Trophy for independent drivers.

“We have been able to carry out our plan, competing in 22 races…and learned a lot,” said Monje. “2014 will be the time to apply all these teachings and go all out for the independents’ classification,” he added.
