James Thompson: ”Choosing Rob Huff is an excellent solution”
2012 FIA World Touring Car Championship champion Rob Huff is going to join Lada next year in a third Granta alongside current drivers James Thompson and Mikihail Kozlovskiy, a decision praised by both of the current drivers.
”Choosing Rob Huff as a new driver is an excellent solution. Rob is a very professional driver and a very intelligent person, who is easy to get along with,” said Thompson.
Kozlovskiy joined Lada Sport Lukoil ahead of this season and is happy to get another experienced driver as team mate.
”Two experienced drivers Rob and James will contribute much to the development of the car. It is very important in light of new technical rules of 2014. Honda and Chevrolet are already working on a new car; the Citroen is already testing the machine for the forthcoming season. The arrival of Rob Huff in our team sets a new benchmark. I am sure I can learn much from him and get new experience,” said Kozlovskiy.
Thompson is keen to have Huff onboard for the team to continue their strive upwards in the result lists.
”I have known Rob for a long time. I am sure he will feel comfortable in our Lada Sport Lukoil family. All together we will be capable of achieving strong results. This year was a year of learning for us; we were gaining experience, testing a new car, adapting to unfamiliar racetracks. At the same time, we managed to perform well. We achieved the goal to place Lada in the top ten of the World Touring Car Championship. Next year we will be very strong and our goal is the top five,” said Thompson.
