Facundo Ardusso fastest in Potrero de los Funes qualifying
Equipo Petronas Fiat driver Facundo Ardusso has claimed pole position for the final round of the 2013 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship in San Luis, leading the Chevrolet of Agustín Canapino and his Fiat team-mate José María López.
Ardusso’s best time of 2:27.454 was just 14-thousandths of a second faster than Canapino’s Chevrolet, while José María López, who has confirmed that he will likely not be returning to the Super TC 2000 Championship next year and is set to be replaced by 2002 and 2010 champion Norberto Fontana, was third quickest.
López will instead focus on the Turismo Carretera series in 2014, which may be alongside a programme in the WTCC for Citroën, which is as yet unconfirmed.
It was a strong session for Chevrolet in San Luis, with Franco Vivian setting the fourth fastest time in his Cruze, half a second down on Ardusso’s.
Champion elect Matíás Rossi was fifth fastest in the Toyota Corolla of Toyota Team Argentina, with Néstor Girolami setting the sixth fastest time in the Peugeot Lo Jack Team 408.
Mariano Werner’s Toyota was seventh ahead of the best of the Renaults, that of Fabian Yannantuoni.
Mariano Altuna was ninth for Peugeot with Ricardo Risatti rounding out the top ten in his Honda Civic.
The final race of the 2013 season gets underway at 13:00 ART on Sunday.
