Jordi Oriola aims for Asian races in a SEAT
Jordi Oriola is planning to take part in the Asian races of the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship this year.
“I hope we can raise the necessary budget to participate in the Asian WTCC events, as this would fulfil my dream of racing at world level,” said Oriola.
The 18-year-old is planning to drive a SEAT León for Campos Racing in the TC2 category which is open to the older S2000 cars.
While his WTCC appearance is still to be confirmed, he is going to race in the renewed SEAT León Eurocup for Target Competition this season, as shown in the main article picture. Oriola replaces Mario Dablander at Target Competition.
“I am very happy to make this step forward. The SEAT León Eurocup championship is very interesting and the car is very attractive and powerful. Target Competition is a team with a great track record and that was my main rival last year in the ETCC, so I’m honoured that they were interested in hiring me professionally. Undoubtedly, this year we are taking a step forward in terms of competitiveness and it will be a very interesting season,” said Oriola.
Oriola raced for the Tuenti Racing Team in the FIA European Touring Car Cup last year, finishing third overall in the single-makes trophy, driving a SEAT León Supercopa.
