New touring cars on show at Marrakech opening round
The new colours and cars of the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship had their first official track activity of the year at the circuit Moulay El Hassan yesterday. Here’s a rundown of the new liveries.
Above is Tom Chilton’s interim livery on his ROAL Motorsport Chevrolet Cruze TC1. The car is in full-black with the logos of Lets Race and Capsicum, with the Chilton family no longer involved with the Aon company as of the end of last year.
Local hero Mehdi Bennani in the first new car that Proteam have run since 2006. The new Honda Civic WTCC.
Sébastien Loeb takes the Citroen C-Elysée around the Moroccan circuit for his WTCC debut.
Norbert Michelisz’s new striking red and black Honda Civic.
James Thompson in the Lada Granta Sport, with its new, very noticable aero package and more typical all red colour scheme.
Gianni Morbidelli returns to the WTCC for the first time since 2006, now with Munnich Motorsport in the Chevrolet Cruze TC1.
Tom Coronel’s livery is identical to last year, but that’s all that’s the same, with the car now a TC1 Chevrolet Cruze.
Gabriele Tarquini drives Honda’s new Civic WTCC, again paired with Tiago Monteiro. Tarquini though carries the No.1 as opposed to his usual #3 this year.
The TC2C class contains a few WTCC relics in effect, with this SEAT León being driven by reigning ETCC S2000 champion Petr Fulín.
The Engstler BMWs in their usual Liqui Moly branding. Franz Engstler is back with the team, this time joined by Italian Pasquale Di Sabatino.
