Bamboo team co-owner/founder Nigel Vaulkhard passes away
The co-owner and co-founder of the successful touring car and now GT racing team Bamboo Engineering, Nigel Vaulkhard, has passed away after a mountain biking accident last week.
Vaulkhard, who founded the team in 2009 to race in the British Touring Car Championship with son Harry driving for the team, was involved in a biking accident on Wednesday and was airlifted to hospital, but the team have confirmed he later succumbed to his injuries.
“Nigel and I started working together in late 2008 and since then became very close friends,” said team CEO Richard Coleman.
“Nigel co-founded Bamboo and was a driving force in the team – his passion, commitment and belief in the team was unparalleled.
“We finished third in an FIA World Championship last year and were crowned independent champions – an achievement Nigel was very proud of. I was extremely proud to have Nigel as my best man at my wedding last year.”
The team sends its thoughts to Nigel’s wife Heather, sons Harry and Ollie and all his family.
The staff at TouringCarTimes would also like to extend their sympathies to his family and the team at this very sad time, and wish the team all the best this weekend at the FIA WEC Six Hours of Spa.
