Ma Qing Hua leads FP2 after Monteiro’s time disallowed

Citroën Total WTCC’s Ma Qing Hua has been confirmed as the fastest competitor in the final practice session of the day at the Beijing Goldenport circuit, after Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team’s Tiago Monteiro’s time was disallowed after it was set after a late red flag.

The session was red flagged with just over two minutes to due to fading light at the track, with the session having started at 17:30 local time and already held up after Tom Coronel’s Chevrolet caused a brief red flag stoppage when he became trapped in the gravel.

Tiago Monteiro, who had been fastest in both the test session and the first free practice session for Honda, set a late improvement to go fastest, as did Lada’s James Thompson, who went third in the Lada Granta 1.6T, but with the two drivers having crossed the pit lane exit when the red flag was flown, but not the start-finish line, their times was disallowed, which leaves Ma Qing Hua fastest ahead of Rob Huff’s Lada and Gianni Morbidelli’s Chevrolet RML Cruze.

Qualifying will take place tomorrow at 8:30am CST.
