Agustín Canapino on pole for Peugeot at Rosario
Agustín Canapino has claimed pole position by almost half a second for the second round of the 2015 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship at the Autódromo Juan Manuel Fangio in Rosario.
The 25-year-old lapped the circuit in the final part of qualifying with a time of 1:00.156. Canapino’s closest competition came from Fiat, with former factory Peugeot driver Facundo Chapur 0.496 behind in the Linea.
Third fastest was Toyota Team Argentina’s Esteban Guerrieri, with Facundo Ardusso fourth in the second best-placed Fiat, with these three cars all separated by just 12-thousandths of a second.
Lucas Colombo Russell followed up on his impressive form seen in the first round at Junín, setting the first fastest time in the privateer Chevrolet Cruze, while reigning champion Néstor Girolami was sixth fastest in his Peugeot 408.
The two Toyotas of Matías Rossi and Matías Milla were seventh and eighth fastest, with Fabian Yannantuoni (Peugeot) and José Manual Urcera (Fiat) completing the top ten.
“I am very pleased with the pole, I am very confident for tomorrow,” said Canapino. “It was a special day because I was surprised by the pace of the car…at a circuit around a minute, an error is very expensive, and can cost everything.”
The main race of 39 laps is due to get underway at 12:35 ART.
