Engine changes for both Ladas after qualifying woe

The two Lada Sport Rosneft Vestas of Rob Huff and Jaap van Lagen have both had an overnight engine change after they ran into trouble early on in qualifying at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Huff had initially qualified in 13th position after setting just one lap in qualifying, while Jaap van Lagen had brought his car back to the pits and failed to set a time.

With engine changes for the three Chevrolets of Grégoire Demoustier, Tom Coronel and John Filippi for the new RML upgrade, and for Sébastien Loeb Racing driver Mehdi Bennnai’s Citroen due to overheating at the last round, Huff would have been promoted to tenth for the first race before his own engine change.

As a result of the new ORECA engines going in the cars, Huff will now start 16th and van Lagen 17th for race one, and 13th and 17th for race two.
