No changes at Lada for Slovakian round of the WTCC
Lada Sport Rosneft are set to field their first unchanged driver line-up of the season for the upcoming round of the World Touring Car Championship at the Slovakiaring, with Rob Huff, Jaap van Lagen and Nicky Catsburg all remaining at the team for the race.
Catsburg made his WTCC debut with Lada last weekend at the Moscow Raceway, qualifying in the top ten and finishing fourth in the second race, while van Lagen again scored points on his second outing for the team this year.
The Russian manufacturer started the season with two new Vesta WTCC cars at Termas de Río Hondo in Argentina for James Thompson and Rob Huff, adding a newly-built third car for Mikhail Kozlovskiy from the second round in Marrakech, Morocco.
Although the same three drivers were entered for the following round at the Hungaroring, James Thompson never returned to the track on Sunday after being dropped from the team soon after qualifying.
Van Lagen effectively took over from Kozlovskiy in Germany as the team were forced to slim down to two cars following a testing crash for Rob Huff two days after the Hungarian race, while Dutch driver Nicky Catsburg was drafted into to the team when Huff’s race car had been repaired for their home race in Russia, with Kozlovskiy’s contract now also having been ended by the team.
