Tiago Monteiro reprimanded for contact with Norbert Michelisz

Honda’s Tiago Monteiro has been given an official reprimand by the stewards for an incident with Zengő Motorsport’s Norbert Michelisz on lap eight of the second race at the Slovakiaring.

The Portuguese driver was deemed responsible for the contact which saw the two come together at Turn 3, although neither driver lost a position as a result of the contact.

Monteiro had tried to pass Michelisz down the inside into the right-hand corner, making contact with the rear of the privateer Honda Civic, which partly turned him around. Both were able to continue and the gap to ROAL Motorsport driver Tom Coronel behind was enough so that neither driver lost a position.

The reprimand is the first for Monteiro this season. If the Portuguese driver should amass three, this results in a grid penalty for the next race.
