Citroën fined for unsafe release of Yvan Muller’s car in qualifying

Citroën Racing have been fined 1,000 EUR for a dangerous release in qualifying of Yvan Muller’s car, when his C-Elysée WTCC was released from the pits in Q1 with the cooling fan still attached which when knocked loose caused a red flag.

The team were investigated for the incident and a fine was deemed the appropriate penalty, which follows on from two earlier technical infringement fines handed out to Münnich Motorsport and Campos Racing, which both extracted fuel from the cars while they were not on four wheels, in breach of the regulations.

Muller is set to start the first race tomorrow from ninth on the grid, and the reversed grid second race from second behind team-mate Ma Qing Hua.

Ma is also under investigation for two blocking incidents, the outcome of which is still undecided.
