Six drivers called to the stewards after qualifying
Qualifying results for the first World Touring Car Championship race at Vila Real remain provisional following a dramatic qualifying session, with six drivers called to the stewards to explain incidents during today’s qualifying session.
In the call-up was provisional race two pole-sitter Ma Qing Hua for Citroën. The Chinese driver is being investigated for two incidents which took part in the first part of qualifying, for an incident in which he was hit by Gabriele Tarquini’s Honda while reportedly blocking, and for allegedly blocking ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel.
Yvan Muller is also under investigation for being released from the pits by Citroën with the cooling fan still attached to the car, which came loose and caused a red flag.
Campos Racing’s Hugo Valente is also being investigated for his Q3 lap after he was unable to take the last chicane and potentially gained an advantage.
