Nika Racing will miss WTCC races in Japan
Nika Racing will miss this weekend’s FIA World Touring Car Championship races in Japan due to damage sustained in the previous race.
”It’s obviously disappointing having to skip this weekend’s races in Motegi – not least because it’s Honda’s home event – but the crash in Portugal meant we simply have no option. We continue to work flat out back at base in Sweden and are already eager to return to the grid in China and to complete the rest of the 2015 FIA WTCC campaign in the best way possible,” said Nicklas Karlsson, team principal.
Driver Néstor Girolami, driving his last race of 2015 for Nika Racing, crashed in qualifying at Vila Real, sustaining heavy damage but was nonetheless able to take part in the races.
Lengthy post-race repairs means that the team will sit out the Japanese WTCC weekend, forcing driver Rickard Rydell to again miss a race. The Swede missed races earlier this year due to illness.
