WTCC highlights return to free-to-air TV in the UK with Quest

The World Touring Car Championship will return to free-to-air TV in the UK from this weekend’s round in Japan onwards thanks to a new deal with Quest TV.

Quest TV will broadcast a one-hour highlights programme following each race weekend, which is presented and produced by Neil Cole, who was has worked as a pit reporter in the WTCC previously, as well as in the World Rallycross Championship and World & European Rally Championships.

The show will focus on the WTCC’s two British drivers, 2012 champion and Lada driver Rob Huff, and former BTCC independents’ champion Tom Chilton, and will include exclusive behind the scenes footage not part of the standard Eurosport broadcast.

Quest is part of the Discovery Channel network, which completed an acquisition of Eurosport and its subsidiary, the WTCC promoter Eurosport Events, earlier this year from French channel TF1.

“This is not only great news for the WTCC and its many fans living in the UK, but it’s also another example of the benefits and opportunities we enjoy through our close collaboration with our colleagues at Discovery,” said Francois Ribeiro, head of Eurosport Events. “Story telling is essential in our role as the championship promoter. Tom Chilton and Rob Huff are established frontrunners in the WTCC so we expect their efforts and personalities outside the car to make for great viewing.”

The programme, titled World Touring Cars, will first be broadcast at 19:00 BST on Tuesday 15th September, featuring the events of this weekend from Twin Ring Motegi, Japan, broadcast on Freeview channel 37, Sky 144 and Virgin Media 172.
