Matías Rossi and Gabriel Ponce de León win the 200km at La Pampa
The pair of Matías Rosi and Gabriel Ponce de León, at the wheel of a Toyota Corolla, won the special race of the 200km of Súper TC 2000, the only race of the season where two drivers share a car. The Renault Fluences of Leonel Pernía/Valdeno Brito y Emiliano Spataro/Josito Di Palma completed the podium.
Ricardo Risatti took the lead at the start, followed by championship leader Néstor Girolami. The fights continued in the pack, with numerous drivers colliding with each other in close action.
Behind Girolami were the Fiat of Facundo Chapur, the Peugeot of Agustin Canapino and another Fiat of Carlos Merlo. The participants were tight together, with almost no gaps between the cars. Girolami entered the pitlane by mistake, losing positions and rejoining the track after his team-mate.
The safety car had to be called out when the Chevrolet of Gianfranco Collino caught fire. Canapino was leading, followed by Merlo, Urcera ad Mariano Werner. After three laps, the race was relaunched.
Ricardo Risatti was the first one to come into the pits, followed by Gabriel Ponce de León, for the driver change. After lap 30, top limit to change drivers, Matías Rossi was leading, followed by Camilo Echevarría, Facundo Ardusso and Emiliano Spataro. Ardusso would have to retire shortly afterwards due to a water pump problem.
At the chequered flag, Matías Rossi took the win, followed by Leonel Pernía and Emiliano Spataro completing the podium .
Juan Manuel Urcera, together with Carlos Bueno, were fourth, followed by Christian Ledesma/Juan Bautista de Benedictis, Rafael Morgenstern/Bernardo Llaver in sixth, Mariano Werner/Camilo Echevarría, Facundo Della Motta/Germán Sirvent, Agustín Canapino/Ricardo Risatti and Franco Vivial/Facundo Conta completing the top ten.
After this eighth round of the championship, Matías Rossi is the new championship leader with 126 points, followed by Agustin Canapino with 115 and Néstor Girolami with 112.
Next round of the Súper TC 2000 takes place on the 18th of October, at Autodromo de General Roca, Río Negro.
