Leonel Pernía leads Renault 1-2 at General Roca

Renault Sport drivers Leonel Pernía and Emiliano Spataro claimed a 1-2 result in the Super TC 2000 race at General Roca. Pernía started from pole position and headed the field from lights to flag, winning by 1.3 seconds ahead of his team-mate.

Néstor Girolami claimed a crucial third place finish for Team Peugeot Total Argentina, scoring enough points to take the championship lead by a single point over former championship leader and Toyota driver Matias Rossi.

There was a single safety car session in the race, on lap 15, to recover the Chevrolet of Lucas Colombo Russell. While race leader Pernía saw the gap he had gained reduced, the Renault driver remained in control of the lead after the restart.

YPF Chevrolet driver Norberto Fontana finished fourth ahead of Fiat Petronas driver José Manuel Urcera in fifth.

Franco Vivian crossed the line in sixth position ahead of Facundo Chapur who now shares third position in the championship with race winner Pernía.

Former championship leader Rossi managed to fight his way up to tenth position, securing six points. Three race weekends are left of the 2015 season with Girolami leading on 133 points with Rossi second on 132. Pernia and Chapur are a further 13,5 points behind on a shared third position.

Super TC 2000 continues on November 8th at Mendoza.
