Hugo Valente concerned over tyre degradation
Hugo Valente was the fastest Chevrolet driver in both sessions today in Buriram, Thailand, with the Campos Racing driver finishing the first free practice in eighth. The Frenchman is concerned over tyre degradation, though, as he explains.
“We are struggling a bit on old tyres,” admitted Valente to TouringCarTimes. “I hope it is the same for everyone, because to be honest it was much better this morning, with cooler conditions.”
Besides the tyres issues, which could be a problem especially in race 1, Valente has other concerns as well: “I think the first heat will be the hardest, because qualifying will be held at 10.00 tomorrow morning, so I expect the temperatures to be cooler again, and also for the second race the sun going down might help, but race 1 may be very difficult in the last few laps. The problem is that with the Chevrolet it’s very difficult, if you look at the standings I am the only Cruze driver in the top ten. We are going to work hard and hopefully things will get better starting from free practice 2.”
Valente’s best result to date is second outright at Motegi, Japan.
