Broken flat floor ruined Tom Coronel’s qualifying
ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel finished qualifying in 17th, not being able to set a competitive lap time in his Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1.
The Dutchman had a broken flat floor, which ruined his chances of delivering a good result in the session: “A support of the flat floor got broken, which meant we were not able to do any competitive laps. Instead of working as a downforce enhancer it was like a parachute, there was nothing I could do.”
The ROAL Motorsport driver is positive he could have achieved a good result without the problem: “The only segment I was able to do with my flat floor still working was Sector 1, which was the best at that time. I think we would have progressed to Q2 for sure, and would have worked from there. It’s a shame, but now we will try some different setups on the car to see if we can improve and score points.”
Coronel will start the race from 15th position after penalties to Honda’s Gabriele Tarquini and Campos Racing’s Tin Sritrai have been applied.
