Mehdi Bennani demoted to fifth for track limits infringement

Mehdi Bennani gained access to Q3 in today’s qualifying session in Buriram, Thailand, and managed to beat fellow Citroën driver Ma Qing Hua to fourth.

Shortly after the session, however, the stewards decided to disallow the Moroccan’s Q3 time due to track limits infringements. The Sébastien Loeb Racing driver put all four wheels beyond the white line at turn 8, thus demoting himself to fifth place.

Due to the sanction only applying to Q3 obviously, Bennani still keeps his top five spot, but will now start behind the works Citroën Total Racing cars.
