Mehdi Bennani determined to fight for Yokohama Trophy

Mehdi Bennani gained access to Q3 in Buriram, Thailand, after the Moroccan came second in the previous segment of qualifying.

The Sébastien Loeb Racing driver was very happy with his performances, despite losing his Q3 time due to a track limits infringement: “It’s a shame I was demoted to fifth, because having a Citroën behind me was always going to be reassuring,” said the Citroën driver to TouringCarTimes. “Now I have (fellow Yokohama Trophy racer) Hugo Valente next to me, but I will not let that become a problem. I will look ahead and try to do my best.”

The Moroccan was particularly proud of his performances as he was very close to the works drivers: “It was amazing and I am very happy with what I was able to achieve. I was close to the works guys and gained access to Q3, I couldn’t be happier.”

Bennani will turn his attention to the Yokohama Trophy, in which he sits 25 points behind leader Norbert Michelisz: “I surely need to win this race, like I said if we do not win then my chances will disappear. We will see what happens today and hopefully go to Qatar still in with a chance, but it will not be an easy task. I will try my best! I’m sure the races will be tough, also physically, because it’s very hot here.”
