Norbert Michelisz focused on overall result
Yokohama Trophy leader Norbert Michelisz came tenth in today’s qualifying at Buriram, Thailand. The Zengo Motorsport driver will be on pole position for race 2, but he will not try to save the car in the first race.
“Every time I try to do that I have an accident, so I’ve learned my lesson,” explained the Hungarian to TouringCarTimes. “I will just try to do my best and see what happens from there.”
Despite the pole position in race 2 the driver is not happy: “It’s not a good feeling not to be able to fight for top positions. Of course starting on pole feels good, and with a little luck and some good racecraft it’s probably possible to take a podium. I think winning will not be possible.”
Michelisz is not looking after his Yokohama Trophy lead: “To be honest I am more interested in the overall result. Of course it feels nice to be in the lead, but my goal is always to be as high as possible in the outright standings. If there is a chance to go for fourth in race 1, for instance, I will take my risks and ignore the fact that I may lose points in the Yokohama Trophy.”
