Sébastien Loeb ‘frustrated’ with win chance denied by red flag

Sébastien Loeb admitted he feels frustrated despite two second places, after the Citroën driver’s chase for Castrol Honda Racing’s Tiago Monteiro was halted by the red flag caused by the low light conditions.

“I know I could have had a good fight with Tiago,” said the Frenchman. “I am frustrated because I pushed like in qualifying every lap, trying to close the gap, and just when it was starting to work I was stopped by the red flag.”

With Loeb now just two points behind team-mate Yvan Muller, the 9-times World Rally Championship winner hopes he will be able to challenge his fellow countryman for the runner-up position: “At the moment everything is possible except winning the championship! I had good races and good qualifying, I am satisfied but still a bit frustrated because I didn’t have the chance to fight and I worked hard to close that gap.”

The Frenchman was full of praise for his championship-winning team-mate José María López: “He has worked hard all year and was always very quick, he proved he deserved this championship and I can only congratulate him for the outstanding job he has done.”
