Tom Chilton enjoys his day despite ‘ups and downs’

Tom Chilton won the second race of the Yokohama Trophy in Buriram, Thailand. The ROAL Motorsport driver made the most out of a good start after the disappointment of the first race in which a puncture denied him a good result.

“I’ve had ups and downs during the races,” said the Brit. “In the first race I was the best of the non-Citroëns until I had a puncture, which was disappointing. The second race was better, I had a good start for a Chevrolet.”

The ROAL Motorsport driver enjoyed the second race in particular: “I had a good race, I was third for a long time and switched positions with many drivers, which was really fun. I have to say that these were all overtaking moves done by professional drivers, there were no schoolboy moves, which allowed us to enjoy the battles.”

Chilton praised some of the moments he lived throughout the battles, which in his opinion testifies the quality of the championship: “I was amazed with the way José María López overtook me on the outside of Turn 8, and I also remember being in full opposite lock in fourth gear with full throttle and Ma Qing Hua trying to get around the outside.I think those moves are a sign of the level of the championship, this is why I race here. We are in the FIA World Touring Car Championship and it’s all very exciting.”
