Agustin Canapino on pole at Cordoba
Agustín Canapino, at the wheel of his Peugeot 408, scored the pole position for the 11th round of the Súper TC 2000, taking place this weekend at the Oscar Cabalen circuit. The Argentinian was followed by the Renault of Leonel Pernía and Facundo Ardusso’s Fiat.
The session started with the participants in Group B, where Chevrolet’s Norberto Fontana was the fastest, with a time of 1:31.877, followed by Carlos Javier Merlo, just 0.084 seconds behind. Lucas Benamo was third.
Ricardi Rissati followed in fourth position, with Damian Fineschi, Fabian Yannantuoni, Ignacio Julian, German Sirvent, Rafael Morgenstern and Mariano Werner.
It was then the turn of the Group A, where Leonel Pernía completed a great lap in 1:31.605, with Agustin Canapino just 0.058 seconds behind him.
The Q2 started under dry conditions, but the spots of rain started to fall over Cordoba as the second group, with the top ten, took to the track. The Q3 was run under wet weather conditions.
Leonel Pernía was the first to establish a fastest time, but was quickly improved by Canapino, with a best lap of 1:32.239. Fernando Ardusso was third in his Fiat Linea, followed by Facundo Chapur.
Facundo Ardusso was fourth, followed by Jose Manuel Urcera, Franco Vivian, Matias Rossi, Néstor Girolami, Carlos Javier Merlo and Norberto Fontana.
Agustin Canapino: “Truth be told, the car behaved very well. The Q3 was to one lap, and we were lucky to have a perfect one. We will seek victory tomorrow, and I’m confindent in having a good car. It will be good if we score points, but much better if we can take victory, so I will do my best tomorrow.”
