Joint WTCC and ETCC races at the Nordschleife

The FIA World Touring Car Championship and the FIA European Touring Car Cup will race together in two split-grid races at the Nürburgring Norschleife in May next year.

Both championships are part of the Nürburgring 24 Hours weekend, with the final WTCC/ETCC race of the weekend finishing right before the start of the 24 hour GT race.

The WTCC and ETCC drivers will drive together in testing, free practice and qualifying.

The two races will feature a split-grid, meaning that the WTCC cars starts first and the ETCC cars a short while later, a procedure similar to the Nürburgring 24 hour race which features three separate starts behind safety car.

The Nürburgring Nordschleife race weekend, using the 25.278 kilometre version of the circuit, takes place on 26-28th of May.
