Néstor Girolami scores critical pole position in San Luis

Peugeot Total Argentina driver Néstor Girolami has secured pole position for the final round of the 2015 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship at San Luis by just two-tenths of a second ahead of his championship rival Leonel Pernía, who was leading the standings by 0.5 point, but with a point for pole position, Girolami now takes the points lead by the same margin.

Girolami lapped the 4.5km Autódromo Rosendo Hernández de San Luis with a time of 1:30.194, just 0.185 seconds ahead of Pernía in the Renault Fluence.

The third fastest driver was Fiat’s José Manuel Urcera, just over half as second behind, with Pernía’s team-mate Christian Ledesma fourth fastest.

Agustín Canapino, team-mate to Girolami at Peugeot but also in with a chance of winning the title, being only 11.5 points behind points leader, was fifth quickest, the last driver within a second of Girolami’s time, while Toyota Team Argentina’s Matías Rossi, also a title contender, tied on points with Girolami, was sixth fastest.

The 27 lap finale of the 2015 Super TC 2000 Championship season is due to take place at 12:25 ART on Sunday.
