Facundo Chapur added to Peugeot line-up from Rosario

Peugeot Total Argentina have signed 22-year-old Facundo Chapur to join their Super TC 2000 Championship team from the second round of the season this weekend at Rosario, expanding their line-up to four cars.

Chapur drove for the Fiat team in 2015, finishing seventh in the standings with a best result of second at the third round of the season at the Autódromo Ciudad de Oberá. Chapur won the 2013 Turismo Nacional Class 2 championship in 2013, and joined Peugeot’s junior team in the 2014 Super TC 2000 Championship season, before joining the Fiat factory squad for 2015.

The Peugeot Total Argentina team, which won the last two championship titles with former driver Néstor Girolami, now fields a four-car line-up of Chapur, Mariano Werner, Damien Fineschi and Fabian Yannantuoni from this weekend’s round of the championship.

Werner was challenging for the podium in the opening round of the championship, before suffering a mechanical fault a few laps from the end of the race. As a result, Peugeot’s best-placed driver is Fineschi in fifth in the standings, while the team are fourth in the manufacturers’ standings behind Renault, Chevrolet and Fiat.
