Tom Chilton focused on beating Mehdi Bennani in main race

Tom Chilton finished the opening race at Slovakiaring ninth outright, scoring two points in the overall championship and finishing second in the Privateers’ WTCC Trophy.

The Brit, who recovered from his previous health issues, is hoping to collect some more points in the main race in his Citroën C-Elysée: “It’s a shame I was not able to finish tenth yesterday, but it is what it is,” said the Sébastien Loeb Racing driver to TouringCarTimes. “I had a good opening race, hopefully I can continue that later today.”

Chilton is focused on beating team-mate Mehdi Bennani, who is starting just two places ahead of him in ninth in the longer main race: “It will have to be about beating my team-mate really. I scored some good points in the (WTCC) Trophy, so hopefully I will be able to bag more. I will try my best to finish ahead of Mehdi.”

Bennani is currently leading the WTCC Trophy after scoring another win in Slovakia.
