Thed Björk gets engine change penalty in Budapest

Polestar Cyan Racing’s Thed Björk will start from the back of the grid for the opening race of the WTCC weekend following an engine change after Friday testing.

The Volvo S60 TC1’s engine has been changed following an evaluation by the Cyan Racing team after temperatures ran high late in the race at the Slovakiaring last weekend.

“With Slovakia and Hungary coming back-to-back over two weekends there is obviously very limited time which makes it impossible for us to find this issue until we hit the track in testing,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, head of motorsport at Polestar. “The team is currently changing engine and this is all part of the game this early into our programme, it is very much a learning year for us.”

The penalty affects Björk’s grid position for the reversed grid opening race, while he will start the main race from where he qualifies.
